All that glitters

Happy New Years to my fellow bloggers. I’m about 19 days late but hey, better late than never right? Hooefully you all had a New Year to remember and your outfits reflected your fun!!!

Speaking of outfits I wanted to share a page from my New Years Evening. I had the worst time finding an outfit for my festivities. With numerous stipulations on the look I was going for… I was limited i my selection.. After hours of searching and many dresses later. I found the one. Well, I didn’t know it was the one until then 4 th time I tried it I and danced around lol….

The first dresses I tried on we’re ok but not really my style as much as I would have liked to to royal blue or red.. I didn’t want to settle on an outfit I really didn’t want to wear. Black was an option but I always wear black.. I need something that sparkled, was sexy but conservative.. Then I found this

Excited as I was I had to make sure this was    what I wanted. The length was great, it had sparkles and i had shoes to match. After getting my hair and makeup done my sparkle dressed transformed me into this…..

The Spotlight Is on!!

ShowImage.aspx

If you can remember awhile ago I wrote a post entitled ” Let’s Just Be Honest…Bloggers 2 Blogger“. I must say I was very impressed by the reviews and comments that were received. If you are curious on why the post did so well I high recommend you check it out. It may be something you can relate to.

There was a little twist to this posting. For those who actually took the time to not only read but to comment were asked to do a questioner to be featured in our “Blogger Spotlight” Series hosted by “yours truly” Starting next week. We will feature a total of about 4 or 5 different bloggers who will share their blogger journey with us. Please make sure you check us out next week to meet our “Featured Bloggers

Awwww….. You Shouldn’t Have…….

I don’t know about you, but gift giving has always been a challenge for me. It’s better to give than receive, but it’s even better to give a really nice gift the receiver will enjoy.Nothing makes me happier then knowing that the gift that I’ve chosen for someone is something that they will thoroughly enjoy.

So after many years of struggling with such a daunting task it hit me. If you want to give the perfect gift “PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CONVERSATIONS.”  I know this isn’t rocket science but it works. The last few times I had to buy a gift for someone, I recalled previous conversations that we had, interactions we engaged in even old text messages . Paying attention when someone speaks is really beneficial.

Quick Story: One of my co-workers is moving to a new department on campus. So our current department decided to give her a farewell dinner. We were given bags to put gifts in for her. Well, earlier that week I showed her pictures of the clothes I got on sale from H&M (see previous post “H&M Chronicles”). She commented heavily on the shorts in the photo. One top of me knowing she loves pick and is a DIVA, I was able to buy her the shorts she commented on in the photo.

When it was time for her to open my gift, she was almost in tears, not because the pants were all that amazing but  because the items that I brought showed her that I was aware of what she likes and I listened to her, with her not even speaking.

What have been your experiences with gift giving?

Every Milestone Is a Victory

Talk about a victory. So I have been wanting a full size mannequin (like the one you see in retail stores) forever. I’ve been saving up for what has been years, searching the web and even hitting up store owners who were going out of business to purchase their mannequins (word to the wise, this is one of the best ways to buy them) but to no avail, until last evening.

One of my friends surprised me with not one but two mannequins (male and female). I cannot explain to you the joy that I felt when I saw them creepis-ly standing on their platforms. I will admit they just stare at you and it’s pretty awkward..lol but I am happy that I have them. Of course I had to name them, so I’ve decided to call them “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” I’m still working on their first names, but I’m already to dress them up.

Here are a few pics of them, after what felt like hours of me trying to put them back together. Every milestone is definitely a victory and I will continue to be thankful.

10 Years Later

So this past weekend was my 10 year high school class reunion. It came sooner than I had anticipated. Nevertheless, it was a day of good people, food and laughter.

It was about 100 degrees on Saturday and I wanted an outfit that was stylish yet very cool. I went for bemurda shorts and a sleeveless Aztec print top ( see in doing better with incorporating print into my wardrobe).

My Short Comings As a Personal Stylist

Hopefully, you decided to stick around after reading the title of the blog (lol). Don’t worry this in no way, shape of form take away from my abilities to style my clients, but it’s something that I’ve noticed and felt would be a great post.

So I’m sure you’re wondering what is this “short-coming” she’s referring to…..my closet. I haven’t been satisfied with the selections in my closet and I haven’t been able to figure it out until recently. I have a special board on pinterest of outfits that I like. Believe me they are awesome, but unfortunately the pieces in my closet and the outfits on my pinterest page or never in sync.

I decided one day to sit down and figure out what could be the cause of this and why am I always saying I have nothing to wear and I have a closet filled with clothes with tags on them..lol. Well after about 30 minutes it hit me. I’ve spent so much time trying to buy the basic/standard solid colors I have little to no patterns.  Don’t get me wrong you can d o a lot of damage with solids (color blocking and things like that), but there is just something about patterns and prints that give outfits that extra kick.

I am dedicating this year 2015 to expanding my pattern/print selection. H&M has done wonders for me. I purchased this colorful Aztec printed top and a beautiful polka dot summer dress. I think I’m on to something here.  I’ll keep you guys update?
